As a Constable, MacDonald  was in the "Craig" Incident in 1884. A precursor to the rebellion where police and Indian Affairs officials barged into a thirst dance in the Battleford area in seach of a suspect

There is record of broken service from 1878 to 1888 however there is record that between 1887-1888  MacDonald was posted to Railway Duty under 0.40 Steele as CPR constructed through the Rockies.

Insp. MacDonald Established the Ross River Detachment in the Yukon.

Military Service Records put MacDonald at Frog Lake during the North West Rebellion.

Below  an epaulette, forage cap, 1885 Northwest Rebellion and Long Service Medal  from issued to Inspector MacDonald.

The epaulette appears to have been removed from a khaki style or field service jacket. There is blue trim on the back side visible.

The three pips, referred to as "stars" in regulations at the time are attached. Regulations on rank display changed often between the 1880's and 1920's. Regulations in 1909 where implemented where an Inspector with more than 10 years service wore 3 stars.

The cast brass curved RNWMP shoulder badge is attached. The curved title is less common than the 'straight across style " and  may have been issued to officers more often. No makers mark on back.
